Professional Law Course Entrance Examinations

In accordance with Regulation 1 (d) of L.I. 2427, the GLC through the IEC, conducts entrance examinations which currently covers the Six (6) subjects specified under the First Schedule to L.I. 2355. They are Law of Contract, Law of Torts, Criminal Law, Law of Immovable Property, Constitutional Law, Ghana Legal System and Methods.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR PROFESSIONAL LAW COURSE

To qualify for admission to the Ghana School of Law for the Professional Law Course, applicants must, in addition to obtaining a Bachelor of Laws certificate from a recognised university and obtaining passes in the prescribed subjects specified in the First Schedule, be successful at the Entrance Examination (See Regulations 2 and 4 of L.I. 2355).

The categories of applicants listed below are eligible to write the Entrance Examination.

    1. LLB Graduates from Ghana
      All LLB graduates from the Faculties of Law of Public Universities in Ghana and Private University Colleges in Ghana or holders of equivalent law degrees approved by the General Legal Council and the GTEC.
    2. LLB Graduates from Common Law Jurisdictions
      All Ghanaian LLB graduates or holders of equivalent law degrees from Universities in Canada, the United Kingdom, the United States of America and other common law jurisdictions approved by the GLC who have obtained passes in all the prescribed subjects/courses specified in the 1st Schedule.

EVIDENCE OF ALL ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

All applications must be supported by either the original or a certified copy of examination certificates.  Applicants with overseas qualifications must also include an official English translation of their certificates and results, and any other evidence which you wish to supply in support of your application (e.g. references).

The current application will be paid online. Payment can be made either via Mobile Money or a Visa Card directly on the portal.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

The Professional Law Course Entrance Examination Portal will be opened in July.

  1. When the examination portal opens, please follow these steps:
  2. Click on the “Purchase E-Voucher” to purchase an E-voucher.
  3. You will be requested to make a payment for the voucher
  4. A code will be sent to your email and SMS account after payment
  5. Use your voucher code to apply for the Entrance Examination
  6. Once you have registered and made payment successfully (wait for the payment successful redirect after approving your payment), you will receive an activation email and text message, which will include the Serial Number (SN) and Personal Identification Number (PIN)
    1. You are advised to check your spam folder/ or permit emails from “iec-glc.gov.gh”. You must be patient and wait to receive your SN and PIN.
  7. Click on the Complete Application button in your message or return to the My Application tab. Log in using your SN and PIN to complete your application form.
    1. Fill in the Application form for the Entrance Examination Registration
    2. Complete all fields in BLOCK LETTERS.
    3. You can save your application form and return to it as often as possible, but the Application form MUST be completed and submitted before the deadline, after which you can NOT make any changes.
    4. When you finally submit the application form to the administration, you will receive an email indicating your “application has been sent”.
    5. You will be redirected to your dashboard, where you will see your Examination identification (ID) number
  8. Your exact Venue or Hall will be updated a week before the Examination.
  9. Print the Proof of Submission after the venue has been updated and bring it along with your Ghana Card to the Examination venue.

Students/Applicants who register for Examinations run by the Independent Examinations Committee (IEC) shall be responsible for their own health conditions and needs during the examinations registered for.
The IEC will not be responsible for the health needs of students during the Examinations.
