IMPORTANT NOTICE TO STUDENTS

2026 PLC/POST-CALL JUNE MAIN EXAMINATIONS &
APPLICATION FOR SUPPLEMENTARY EXAMINATIONS REGISTRATION

The Independent Examinations Committee (IEC) wishes to inform all students that the 2026 Main Examinations will be held in June, as well as Supplementary Examinations.

NOTE: The deadline for the examination registration will NOT BE EXTENDED

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Candidates may apply under the following conditions:

  • Main Exam: You should be cleared by GSL to enable you to register for the exams.

It would be dishonest to attempt to register when you have NOT been cleared by GSL

  • Supplementary: 
    • Students may apply to resit at most two (2) failed subjects in PLC Part 1
    • Students may apply to resit only one (1) failed subject in PLC Part 2.
    • Students may apply to resit at most three (3) failed subjects in Post Call

FEES APPLICABLE

  1. For the main examination, Part-1/Part-2 students. a total fee of GH¢1,950.00 is to be paid
  2. For Main examination, Post-Call students a total fee of GH¢5,000.00 is to be paid
  3. A fee of GH¢750.00 per subject is payable for Supplementary Examinations.

Payments are accepted via All Mobile Money or Visa/Mastercard through the official IEC registration portal.

We do NOT accept payment by Bankers’ Draft

  2. Select June Main Examinations
  3. Make the appropriate payment(s) directly on the Portal
  4. Confirm your payment, and print proof of registration for future reference

  1. Visit the IEC Supplementary Examinations SectionSupplementary Examinations Registration, or click the button below.
  2. Select the subject(s) for Supplementary Examinations
  3. Make the appropriate payment(s) directly on the Portal
  4. Confirm your payment, and print proof of registration for future reference

NOTICE OF DEADLINE

The main exams registration for 2026 is from 4th May 2026 to 9th June 2026. The deadline for the examination registration will NOT be extended

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO STUDENTS IEC Student Relations Office (SRO) has moved online

Effective Monday, 1st September, 2025, the Student Relations Office (SRO) of the IEC at the Supreme Court Premises will no longer be accessible to students.

Any communication with the IEC should, therefore, be made through the IEC email address for necessary attention.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION FOR ADMISSION TO THE PROFESSIONAL LAW COURSE 2026 / 2027 ACADEMIC YEAR

Students/Applicants who register for Examinations run by the Independent Examinations Committee (IEC) shall be responsible for their own health conditions and needs during the examinations registered for.
The IEC will not be responsible for the health needs of students during the Examinations.

PLC 1, PLC 2 and Post Call RE-MARKING or RE-TALLYING

Pursuant to the Legal Profession (Professional and Post-Call Law Course).

Regulations, 2018 (LI 2355), as amended by Legal Profession (Professional and Post-Call Law Course) (Amendment) Regulations, 2020
(L.I. 2427), students may, within 14 days following the release of the GSL examination results, opt for the remarking of their scripts or have their marks re-tallied.

Students/Applicants who register for Examinations run by the Independent Examinations Committee (IEC) shall be responsible for their own health conditions and needs during the examinations registered for.

GLC - IEC

Decision Taken by The General Legal Council

Find below the Decision Taken by The General Legal Council at its Meeting Held on Friday, 1st March 2024 as Communicated to The Independent Examinations Committee by Letter Dated 18th March 2024 SCR 92/Vol. 88

i. Council decided that since the Professional Law Course was a 2-year Programme, the duration of studentship is capped to a maximum of 5 years. The 5 years consist of the two years in which Part I and II examinations are taken and a total of three retakes over three years taken in either Part I or II or over Part I and II.  The Examinations were to be taken consecutively over the period.

ii. Council further decided that the Post-Call Law Course should be taken for a maximum duration of four (4) years; the main examination taken at the end of the year and three (3) retakes taken consecutively.

iii. Council decided that the above-mentioned decision were to take effect from the 2024 -2025 Academic year.

iv. In communicating Council’s decision to the students, reference was to be made to Regulation 14(2) of the Legal Profession (Professional and Post Call Law Course) 2018 (L.I 2355) as amended, as follows:

“The programme is a Two-year programme and should be completed within a maximum of five years, i.e. the 1st year, the 2nd year and three retakes which applies to any of the two (2) years. The five years should be consecutive”.
